Bob's Blog
Bob Roberts is the founder and Senior Pastor of NorthWood Church. Through his leadership, NorthWood has planted in excess of 89 churches in the US. Bob is a national and international speaker and thinker in transforming people, churches, communities and the world. He has led NorthWood and other churches to work on international development projects which include building schools, clinics and hospitals, micro-businesses, water systems and exchange student programs. Additionally, he works with community development programs in local neighborhoods in the Fort Worth area. He frequently teaches courses on church planting, church growth, church multiplication, community transformation and international development at seminaries and universities around the globe. Bob is a graduate of Baylor University (BA), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div), and Fuller Seminary (D.Min). Bob is married to Nikki and they have two children, Ben and Jill.

Mike Reed

For over twenty years, Mike enjoyed a successful management career in the radio industry. Now he is using his expertise in leadership, management and communications to help NorthWood implement its vision. Mike and his wife Kelly are graduates of Cedarville University. They have five kids, which may explain Mike's great patience, listening skills and sometimes dazed look. He is gifted in both solving problems and putting things together, even though he has been known to break a few things while practicing his golf swing inside the house.

Jordan Fowler

Intrigued by NorthWood's vision to reach people around the world, Jordan Fowler joined NorthWood's staff in November of 1998 as worship pastor. He splits his time and what little hair he has left between worship design, music, teaching, graphic design and the communicative arts. Alongside mentoring church-starting worship leaders, he attempts to keep his 4 year old son from beginning his “moto-cross career.” He is respected by his colleagues not only as a musician and worship leader, but as a songwriter, communicator and theologian. He and his wife Piper have three children.

Brent Minter

Brent Minter excitedly joined the staff at Northwood in October of 2004. Brent's desire is to use his talent of leading worship as a way to teach believers how to respond to the Lord not only with song, but also with obedient lives. He does this by giving leadership to the student worship teams and also leading for the whole congregation. Brent graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2001 and from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity in 2005. Brent and his wife Kari have a beautiful baby daughter. Brent enjoys studying theology, hunting, camping, and is attempting to enjoy exercising.

Randy Miller

Randy Miller has been on staff since 1990. He grew up in Arkansas, where early on he dreamed about being an astronaut and about being in the ministry. To this day, he holds out hope that he will be the first chaplain on the international space station. Currently, Randy heads up the Teams ministry, which is the backbone of all that goes on at NorthWood. His passion is to equip those in the Body of Christ to realize their individual potential so they might powerfully impact the world with the love of Jesus. Randy is a graduate of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri, and Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife Jennifer have two daughters.

Matt Welborn

Matt Welborn joined the staff of NorthWood in 1998. Matt grew up in the Metroplex area and now is responsible for getting newcomers plugged-in at NorthWood. Matt graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in family studies. He enjoys making people feel welcome, playing just about every sport, frequenting Starbuck's for $4 cups of coffee that could be had for $.25 at Dairy Queen, and spending time with his wife Amber and daughter and son.

Mark Weston

Mark Weston joined the NorthWood staff in 2006, having served the Lord in church and community based ministries for over twenty years. Mark holds two masters’ degrees and is working towards a doctorate in psychology. He and his wife have served the Lord in Arizona, Texas, Hawaii, Colorado, and now, back here to Texas (leading some to question his own mental health in exchanging the Hawaiian and Coloradan climates for Texas’s two seasons….hot and real hot). Mark ministers to people who are hurting or in crisis, overseeing pastoral care, counseling, and support group ministries. He and his wife have one son.

Omar Reyes

Omar Reyes leads the community development at NorthWood. Omar was born and raised in Belize, Central America before moving to the United States 23 years ago. Omar served 6 years in the United States Marine Corp trained in management. He has worked extensively in Latin America with projects such as orphanage in Guatemala, church planting in Belize and leadership training and the rebuilding efforts in Honduras after Hurricane Mitch. He is married to Elisa and have 4 children. His passion is to mobilize the church and its resources to make an transformational impact in our local communities.

Dennis Jeffares

Dennis graduated from the NLU School of Pharmacy in Monroe , Louisiana in 1988 and worked as a hospital and home health pharmacist for the next 8 years. During this time he served as a youth pastor and obtained his M.Div. from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1996, Dennis and his wife Danielle began their overseas service in Nepal where Dennis served as country director for the Asian Rural Life Development Foundation (ARLDF). In 2001, Dennis and his family began working in Pakistan and Afghanistan in some of the most underdeveloped provinces in those countries. In July of 2006 Dennis joined the staff at Northwood. He is a rabid Dallas Mavericks fan and is always happy to take and extra tickets off your hands. Dennis & Danielle have four children.

Bobby Vaughn

Bobby and his family were drawn to NorthWood's DNA and joining the church and the church planting internship in 2006. Bobby became the interim Church Planting Director in November of that year. Owning his own business in Colorado, Bobby has the entrepreneurial spirit and excitement to see future church planters succeed in their God-given visions for Kingdom impact. Bobby lives with 5 women, his wife Rennee and four daughters which explains his follicle inadequacies. But don't worry, he has a garage, a male dog, and a healthy fascination for Nascar and Dallas Cowboy football (which his wife says is the real reason for moving to Texas).

Dustin Jones

Student Pastor, Dustin Jones , joined the NorthWood staff in December of 2000. Dustin grew up in the booming metropolis of Texarkana, Texas (NOT Arkansas). He graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Sociology. He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in May of 2004, with a master's degree in education. Dustin's passion is helping teens become fully devoted followers of Christ. Being the A.D.D. posterchild also enables him to keep up with the pace of student ministry. Dustin enjoys playing the guitar, snow skiing, wake boarding, and spending time with his wife Christin.

Susan Keener

Susan Keener was born and raised in the beautiful county of Chesterfield, Virginia. After graduating from Longwood College with a Business/Accounting degree, she headed west to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In December 2003 she earned a masters degree in Christian Education, with a concentration in Women’s Ministry. For the past eight years Susan has been working with youth groups either in Virginia or here in Texas. She has been called to share her life with students in hopes to introduce them to Christ or deepen their relationship with Him. Susan enjoys playing the guitar, hanging with friends, soccer, sitting on the beach, playing in the ocean, watching surf films, and snow boarding. Even though her family is still in Virginia, she has begun a new family here with Neko, the friendly cat!

Becky Done

Becky Done joined the Northwood staff in May, 2007 after living in Hong Kong with her family for 15 years equipping church planters. Her family instantly felt the global passion at NorthWood and knew this was where they belonged. Becky loves working with kids, helping them to discover the exciting life of following Christ wherever that might lead them. She has been an educator for over 20 years with experience writing curriculum and leading children’s spiritual education programs in the United States and Hong Kong. She and her husband, Ralph have three daughters which might very well explain the hormonal stare you might get as a result of the numerous “chick flicks” which are common television fare in the Done house.

Caryn Candia

Children’s worship pastor Caryn Candia graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Studies from North Central University in Minneapolis, MN in 1990. Upon graduation, Caryn spent two years as a missionary in Santiago, Chile, where she not only fell in love with the Chilean culture, but one Chilean in particular, her husband, Since 1994, Caryn has served as a worship leader, Spanish teacher, and youth pastor. Caryn joined NorthWood’s staff in November of 2003 to use music and creative arts to lead children to Jesus’ transforming power. Caryn is right at home with kids because as she puts it, “I still have imaginary friends, I still prefer peanut butter & jelly over fancy restaurants, and I still wonder what I’ll be when I grow up.”

Mark Kimmel

Adminstrative Pastor

NorthWood's administrative pastor, joined the staff in 1997. Prior to this, he spent ten years in Eastern Europe, ministering to pastors with BEE International. Currently, he provides oversight for the facility, finances and office staff of NorthWood as well as dropping the occassional hilariously dry remark. Mark and his wife Valinda are proud parents of Andrew, at Handin-Simmons University, and Paige, at Texas A&M. Now that his kids are in college Mark is looking for a new hobby. Any suggestions are welcomed.
