Special Needs

Joy Zone

During both worship services, children with special needs have an opportunity to learn about and experience the love of Jesus through learning activities designed specifically for them. Depending upon parent request and the child's individual abilities, children are kept exclusively in the special needs classroom or integrated into regular classrooms for all or part of the hour. "Shadow" volunteers are provided for those children who participate in regular classrooms. Joy Zone volunteers are trained by child psychologists and educators who have professional experience working with children who have special needs.

Revive

Revive is a free parents’ night out program for children with special needs and their siblings. It is offered from 6:00-10:00 pm two Fridays per month. A staff of trained, loving volunteers care for children with special needs and their siblings. The event is designed to provide socialization and fun for children. Revive is not specifically designed to be a therapeutic environment, even though the current staff includes child psychologists, medical professionals, speech therapists, occupational and physical therapists, and special needs educators. Medical professionals are present at each event to address any medical issues that may arise. A criminal background check is conducted on all Revive volunteers.

A full array of activities are planned for the children, including crafts, playground activities, ball pit, bounce house, computer games, music or karaoke, and board games.
