Are you ready to go back to school? How about going to elementary school? We need caring tutors/mentors to encourage and motivate young students at The Academy at West Birdville (AWB). AWB is a Title I elementary school in Birdville ISD that partners with NorthWood through our Glocal Impact ministry.
Helping AWB students is easy, fun, and rewarding. If you can read at a first grade level, you are qualified! Tutoring is only a one hour per week commitment, and you can choose the day and time you want to volunteer. After a short orientation at the school, a seasoned tutor will walk with you through the process of tutoring and mentoring.
Not quite ready to make a commitment? That’s okay. Come try it out. If you like, you can job shadow a seasoned tutor to see if AWB is the right fit for you. Because many of the children lack positive male role models in their lives, men are especially needed. Ladies, we need you too. Everyone is invited to come and help the children learn basic reading and math skills.
According to school administrators, when NorthWood volunteers spend time at AWB and pray for the students, the whole atmosphere of the school changes. Find out how you can make a huge difference in a child’s life just by showing up! Email AcademyTutors@NorthWoodChurch.org or visit the Glocal Impact table in the lobby for more information or to volunteer. A grateful AWB student is waiting for you!
